Customer: Hi Pearl, I have spoken with Dementia Australia this morning regarding my mother's dementia. I do not believe her partner is caring for her as well as he should (Mum is 77 and he is 62). He is isolating Mum from her family and she also has no friends. When we call, he puts the phone on speaker so he can hear everything we talk about. When we visit mum, he sits next to her the entire time - we cannot have a private conversation with our mother at all :( He is not hurting her physically, but we are afraid that if we push too hard he will pack her up and take her away and we will not know where she is. They are currently living on acreage in a caravan with no running water or a flushing toilet - not exactly the way we want to see Mum living out her life. Her partner also will not tell us who Mum's doctor is, so I have had to call all the doctors in their town and have finally found her doctor. We visited Mum in hospital and because her partner listed only himself as next of kin. the hospital would not tell anyone else Mum's status. Mum has 4 kids and none of us could find out how she was! Any advice as to what we can do to remove Mum from her current situation is appreciated
