Customer: Hi I'm a Pensioner and my only source of income is from my SMSF which owns a small property, Chemist Ware house one of the biggest Pharmacy chains, have leased my shop plus adjoining shops to create a large area for their business., (I believe the other shop owner in in my situation as well). The rent was due on 1st. of April, they did not pay the rent and in an email to my agent said "they are waiting for PM announcement on Tues about Commercial leasing" Pharmacies are part of the essential services, and their turnover has not changed , if not increased. in PM announcement (if I understand it right) talked about small business affected by COVID-19 and business below $50M turnover those affected , not Pharmacies or Supermarkets, Now Chemist warehouse is trying to misuse the situation and saying they under pressure, I asking to reduce the rent. This is my only source of income + a part time job for my wife in a childcare centre, we do not receive or ever have received any money from Centrelink until today, CWH action and misusing this situation really discuses me . Could you please let me know what are my right and how can I stop them misusing the situation. (the even wrote in an email that they applied for $1,500 government assistance for their staff.!!!
JA: What state are you in? It matters because laws vary by location.

JA: What steps have you taken so far?
Customer: My managing agent has emailed them and asked them they can not do that unless they can show us the reduction in turnover
JA: Anything else you want the Lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: mainly what right do I have and just incase they insist how should we approach this matter specially during these crises.
